Irish Red
by: Jim Kjelgaard
Genre: Fiction
Summary: Mike is the son of Big Red. But nobody believes he is the son. Then in the end he try's to prove to everybody that he is the son of Big Red.
What I liked most about the book: was that Mike was able to put all that running in the woods to catching a bog and caught it.
What I didn't like and why: I didn't like the fact that Ross and Danny had to work with Joe Williams because he was working for John Price, who only picks a dog if they're a nice breed.
My favorite character and why: My favorite character is Mike because he shows no fear no matter what.

Outlaw Red
by: Jim Kjelgaard
In his life time, Jim Kjelgaard wrote well over forty novels for young or juvenile readers; most of which dealt with animals, in particular dogs. Most of his writing was done in the late 1940s and early 1950s. As a young man I must admit I devoured these books, giving most of them multiple readings. Several of these "youth books" had a rather profound effect on my life. The three books dealing with Irish Setters, e.g. Big Red, Irish Red and this one being reviewed here, Outlaw Red, ingrained into me a love for dogs that has lasted a life time.

Irish Setter
by: Margaret Williams
I would strongly recommend this book to anybody in love with Irish Setters, but particularly to the uniniciated future owner, like myself.
It covers all aspects involved in looking after this breed and explains in excellent detail all anyone needs to know from the puppy stage through to the mature pet.
In addition the book is illustrated with superb photographs plus an explanation of how healthy dogs should look and behave.
I can't wait to have my puppy home in a few weeks time!
